Birthday Book letters will be coming home soon....
During the month of your child's birthday, a personalized letter will be sent home in your child's backpack. This letter will explain how your family has the opportunity to give a lasting gift to Manor School by donating a book in your name to the Manor School Library. Your donation will enable your child, with the help of the librarian, to select a book to be dedicated to the library in his or her honor. Birthday Book donations go directly to the purchase of new books for Manor School Library. The library receives limited funds from the state and district for buying new books and for replacing well-loved books. A bookplate with your child’s name and the year will placed in the front of the book as a permanent thank-you from the Manor School library. Your child can then be the first to check out the book, before it is placed in general circulation.

There will be a library birthday book table at the Scholastic Bookfair in October. You may choose your book from that table and then bring it to the library. Or you may come to the library and choose a book that is already in the library. New books generally cost between $15.00 and $35.00, but any amount is appreciated.

If you have any questions, please contact Anne Siembieda, Library Specialist at 453-1544 or Lori Hennessey at 459-7440.

Brownie Troop Looking for a Lead
Manor School's only Girl Scout Brownie Troop is looking for a mom to head it up. Troop 2021 is a co-op troop and has about eight girls and moms who want to be in it but it needs someone who is organized and has the time to keep the Troop on track and moving forward during this new school year. If you're interested please contact Teri Meadows at thmeadows@comcast.net or 457-6507.

Town Picnic this Sunday
Join us at Central Field this Sunday for some good clean fun... Fairfax style!  Beatles music, VW bus painting, tug-of-war, and a pie eating contest, are a few of the things that will be happening.  There will also be a "celebrity" dunk tank where you will have a chance to dunk some well-known local people (at least one Manor teacher included!).  It's a potluck so bring something to share...also look for Chad selling yummy food from his local cafe. Hope to see you there!
